Let your super reader pick out a movie for the family to watch. There are many great film adaptations of books, and this is the perfect opportunity to get to know what your child is reading.
Book it to the library
Meeting reading goals should mean more books! Take your child on a trip to the library. Let them pick out something new to read to get started on next month’s goal. A fun new twist could be only picking books that have won awards. Winners for winners!
Reading is In-Tents
Set up a tent in your yard, or make a blanket fort in your living room. Gather up some snacks and good books and have a family read-in. Have your children take turns reading their favorite books out loud. There is no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
Family Night In
Plan a family night to celebrate your young readers. Pull out all the board card games and enjoy some friendly competition. Bonus points if you appoint your young reader ‘games master’ and request they read all the rules of the game.
Beam with Pride
Celebrate your child’s achievements with a simple congratulations, hug and a big smile. Knowing you are proud of their accomplishments will encourage them to continue to meet their monthly reading goals.
