Family Date Night

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate with your whole family by staying in and collectively cooking some yummy treats! Teamwork, family bonding and creativity are all on the table when you set aside time to cook together. We have some excellent books to pair with entertaining snacks to make your next family night four-star.

Bookworms in Mud

Celebrate reading with your very own bookworms. Make chocolate pudding per directions, spoon individual servings in cups and let set in fridge. While it cools, crumble up chocolate cookies and prepare your other toppings, like gummy worms, sprinkles and icing. Decorate the top of each pudding with cookie crumbs and add your worms to the dirt. Decorate as you wish with the other toppings.

Pretzel Wands

Make wands with the little wizards in your life, no phoenix feather required. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave and dip in pretzel rods. Have your little wizards decorate their own wands with candy and sprinkles while the chocolate is still warm. Let cool on wax paper and enjoy.

Dragons Love Taco Cups

Any young dragon will enjoy helping with this cooking project. Preheat oven to 350°. Cut flour tortillas into fourths. Prepare taco filling and toppings of your choice. Coat muffin tin cups with nonstick cooking spray. Line each cup with one-fourth of the flour tortilla. Add taco filling and cheese to each cup. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until the edges are brown. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and avocado!

Elephant Ears and Piggy Snouts

Friends are better together, just like these snacks. Gerald’s ears-Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet to about 375°. Open can of pre-made biscuits and flatten out each biscuit. Fry one at a time in oil, flipping once until brown. Remove to plate covered with paper towels. Sprinkle immediately with a mix of cinnamon and sugar.

Piggy’s snouts-Use icing to stick dark colored candies to the flat ends of marshmallows to make a quick pig snout to go with your elephant ears!
